Today we mixed a little science with art to create these beautiful sharpie coaster paintings! Students drew on the ceramic tiles with sharpies, then dripped rubbing alcohol on top to allow the colors to run and blend together. After the surface dried, some students decided to draw over the surface again with more defined images, text, and lines. Today students learned a few watercolor painting techniques and painted beautiful Spring landscapes!
Today we collaborated with the environmental club to create mixed media paintings! Students used a lot of random items like mix-matched playing cards, toilet paper tubes, fake flowers, cardboard coffee holders, and buttons (things we might usually throw away) to create mixed media paintings with themes of their own choice.
What better way to show some Valentine's Day spirit than with heart-shaped mini pillows! I walked students through the process of making a template and creating their no sew pillow all within an hour. Students can use this technique to add a little flair to many different things including clothing and pillows in many different shapes!
First meeting of the new semester, students played a game of "If I were stranded on a deserted island!'
For the last day of the semester, we worked on collaging and silhouettes with magazine strips, which turned into some pretty nice projects!
It's gifting season! Students were all given an assortment of glass vessels, bundles of fabric leaves and faux fall trimmings to create their own decorated maple leaf candle holders.
